Transactions

Current Market Conditions

In the current economic climate, organic growth is a tough strategy to pursue.  Ambitious businesses are looking at acquisitions to enhance performance and drive shareholder value.  Strategic acquisitions that add revenues can improve margins significantly with cost rationalisation programmes.

In 2009, businesses focused on surviving rather than thriving.  A few of the bigger players benefitted by absorbing weaker players but these deals were few and far between.  In 2010, the economy slowly started to recover, and as the year progressed, the volume of M&A gradually increased.

In 2011, banks are lending but ever so cautiously, companies are looking at driving growth plans, and private equity has a wall of money to invest.

If you have been considering buying or selling a business, we can confirm that transactions are being completed, but they are taking considerable time to complete, and having experienced 'deal-doers' on both sides is essential.

Advisory Services

Ideally, we become involved at the outset of a transaction, when initial terms are being discussed.  However, we are able to step in to a transaction at any stage.

Our approach is to immediately roll up our sleeves, focussing on the key deal issues that will impact on our client, and which will significantly increase the likelihood of a successful completion to the transaction.

We provide the experience to manage the transaction, identifying potential deal-breakers and finding solutions acceptable to all parties.

We are the central contact point that liases with all the parties involved in the transaction, including principals, funders and advisers, leading the negotiations and the process on behalf of our client.
